April Hickox April Hickox is a photo based artist, teacher, and independent curator. She has been a practicing artist for over 25 years and is currently represented by the Leo Kamen Gallery in Toronto. Often taking the form of a narrative, her photography, film, and installation work is based on ideas of the passage from one experience to another in the life process encompassing history, memory, our sense of place, and communication or voice. April’s work has been exhibited widely; her most recent exhibitions include Revealing the Subject at the Oakville Galleries –a commissioned installation accompanied by an interpretive DVD for the art Gallery of Windsor and a solo exhibition at the Leo Kamen Gallery entitled Landscape and Memory. In addition to over twenty years of artistic production, April has taught photography, printmaking, and professional practices at Ryerson Polytechnic University and at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Currently, she is the Chair of the Photography department at The Ontario College of Arts and Design, teaching in both the third and fourth year programs. |
